Dinah’s Delight is a fabric collection inspired by a piece of history, a vintage quilt dating back to 1800’s. This antique quilt, originally two separate quilts that were later combined, sparked curiosity about its origins and purpose. Was it cut apart to hide them from the enemy or were they selvaged parts of damaged quilts. The collection’s name pays homage to the designers fifth-generation removed great grandmother Dinah Crisler Carpenter (1762-1836). Dinah, a resident of Culpeper County, Virginia, lived during a pivotal period in American history, marrying Samuel Carpenter a Revolutionary War veteran and raising fourteen children. “Dinah’s Dilemma” and “Gentleness, are the two key concepts within this collection, they reflect the essence of colonial life and the spirit of resilience. The designer seeks to capture the timeless charm of heritage quilts while inviting makers to interlace their own narratives into their creations. With its selection of beautiful prints, it inspires crafters to create quilts that tell stories of love, courage, and tradition.
